LONG TERM MAPAC OUTREACH-HASANAAT SOCIETY PLANS
Alhamdulillah, Last night I had the opportunity to meet with Br. Iyad Hindi and Sr. Samar Shawwa to discuss this year's plan for MAPAC Outreach Hasanaat Society. We came up with a realization that we need a long-term plan with well defined goals and timelines on what we want to achieve. We came up with the following goals/objectives in addition to the mission statement of Hasanaat. The need for an adult/college graduate counselor to this branch of the organization was discussed, if anyone is willing to and fits this criteria, please e-mail me.

1. Goals/Objectives
a) Muslims should be seen and work to be active participants in community service as decreed by their faith
b) Members of Hasanaat Society/MAPAC Outreach should work to mobilize community members in the efforts of such community service.
c) We need to come up with numerical objectives to measure our successes such as 4 major activities in a timely manner or 2-3 articles of our work in local newspapers/media of greater Raleigh, though all our work is ultimately fi sabilillah.
d) Our goals and objectives ultimately need to be Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely

2. Proposed Consistent Activities (monthly)
These areas are amongst those that might be selected if they proved to be based upon our goals/mission statement:
A) Working with the homeless (maybe 1/month) via Soup kitchens/Habitat for humanity
B) Environmental i.e. Adopt a Highway (once every three months)
i. I need the information for this- contact info/instructions/directions/10-15 ppl needed
ii. iA if someone could put me on the MAPAC lists so I could get the word out for necessary Muslim volunteers
iii. iA it would be August 23rd where 10-15 males and females are needed as well as adult volunteers

C) Medical Assistance via Blood drives (once a year)
D) Education via Boys/Girls Homes/Tutoring/Tammy Lynn Center
E) Doing projects with the neighbors of the Masjid/Method Community

3. Proposed Major Activities
A) Blood Drive- for this I propose the date of Friday the 30th of January to begin at 4:00 pm and end at isha using the venue of the activity hall at the masjid. Br. Iyad Hindi- could you please speak with Br. Samy Abdel-Baky about this issue before we can proceed, and let me know? Jak...
B) Eid Toy Drivedetails were not discussed but I think we should aim for eid ul adha as that time is usually less occupied for the general popn.
C) Ifthar during Ramadan for the neighbors/NonMuslims to enjoin in
D) Join with Jamaat-At-Taqwah to work at the Feed the Hungry program, proposed idea of doing this daily during Ramadan but needs more thought as to how it would work. Br. Iyad- could you please get me the contact information for this organization as well?
E) Continue with the Sisters fundraising event next year

All of these are very premature ideas. What we will have running inshaAllah are the projects from the former post which will be conducted regularly and inshaAllah we will begin planning the blood drive later this fall. Questions, comments, concerns? E-mail nadia_khan@caryacademy.org, I should be back by August 10, 2003, inshaAllah. JazakmuAllahu Khayran.
